True, because past hurts can hurt so much they don't feel capable of dealing with them. The only solution is to block them off. Result: subconscious resentments come up and they don't know why, and in some cases they act hateful to people, in other cases they complain about insignificant things - and will complain very bitterly if their subconscious thought can draw a line between the insiginificant thing and the hurt that they have blocked off from their conscious mind. I realize that sounds a bit like hocus pocus psychology, but it is really true.
What does that have to do with religion? To me, everything. I have seen over and over again how people can find healing at the cross, when they learn to face up to their hurts, and forgive the inexcusable.
One of those who answered here, immediately jumped at christians in answer to your question. He (or she?) says that Christians don't have a life. Seemingly, there is no relationship between that and what you said. But I would guess that this person is hurting a great deal, and was hurt at the hands of Christians. - So many possibilities: Christian parents that separated? An abusive pastor? Whatever it is, there is obviously a tremendous well of bitterness and hurt. Otherwise this reaction would not suddenly come up in this way. There again, the solution would be the cross and forgiveness. But you cannot forgive what you don't face up to.
Edit:
I just checked, the answerer I'm referring to is SN.

Yes.
This morning we gave out nearly 100 turkeys along with all the extras to people in need. Realize this all came from church members donations in money and time. And yet there were a couple of people who still found things to complain about.
I very much think those that complain are probably carrying around some old unresolved issues that keep them angry at the world. All you can do when you encounter people like that is to try to understand this, be patient, and say a silent prayer.

Some people are not happy unless they are complaining, no matter how trivial. I don't have much to complain about because I can accept things for what (or who) they are. Some things in the world I don't like, but I am not going to complain about it because it would not make any difference anyway! The only person I can change is myself, and I like me the way I am!!!

Some people are bugged by certain illogical cults trying to make their beliefs law for everyone, and feel the need to complain about it.

like the so called "reality t.v.," we invent our scenarios to amuse ourselves. even complaining takes on a realm of its own inventive power.
growing up entails a mature mental and emotional stability most people do not always seem to have in their arsenal. look at those people who are most at ease, you will see that they are comfortable with their past and present, and confident of the future. these people are usually very successful, as well.

People like that really bother me, that's what i call a negative person, if only we had more positive people, it seems like, it's easier for people to be negative, rather than positive i think that's alot of what's wrong with the world, and that sad.

Some just use the past as an excuse as to why they don't apply themselves to become a better person.

Quite true. It's always *someone* else's fault and like what they say in penal colonies, they're all "innocent"...
Peace be with you.
