There are things that I am prone to doing which I am not happy about, ie watching too much television, harbouring unhappy thoughts, slavishly engaging in unhealthy habits, being unoccupied most of the time. If it was not for my faith, I would possibly be dead with a drugs overdose or taking a bad drug or suicide.

Admittedly, I came to my faith as a result of the hope of everlasting life, so it's difficult for me to say that I would have taken this path without that prospect. However, if I now found out that eternal life was not the prize, I would seriously consider remaining in my faith.

i think it's quite a contradictory question. with God and religion comes the promise of "eternal life" in the hereafter.

It's a case of i believe in God. He promises me eternal life.

It is NOT a case of i believe in eternal life. So... i look up a religion and a God.

50:31 And [on that Day] paradise will be brought within the sight of [22] the God-conscious, and will no longer be far away; [and they will be told:]

50:32 “This is what you were promised - [promised] unto everyone who was wont to turn unto God and to keep Him always in mind –

50:33 [everyone] who stood in awe of the Most Gracious although He is beyond the reach of human perception, and who has come [unto Him] with a heart full of contrition. [23]

50:34 Enter this [paradise] in peace; this is the Day on which life abiding begins!” [24]

I am a follower of Jesus, because he fulfills me, and His blessings are more then any of the worldy things I could ever acquire. Yes, I am glad I get to spend eternity with Him, and it's kind of hard to imagine not having that as the end, but I guess even if in the end I died and that was it, absoutly nothing to follow, even though thats not possible, I would still follow Him.

Very good question. I think that people would still believe in God. People need, and get reassurance from, the idea that there is a higher being who can help them out in times of crisis.

I'm no religious man, but it would seem to me that any sense of the spiritual that depends on a promise of eternal life is fatally flawed (pun intended). If you really had the answers to life, they would be equally true both in the afterlife scenario and its alternative.

Yes. God is the ultimate creator of the universe and I want to be in line with the truth.

Yes. Absolutely! To feel the nearness of God’s love that I feel every single day, I would want to be his servant no matter what. I feel that he is already giving me more reward than I deserve.
