Why would someone with a different faith end up in an afterlife that is not even a part of their beliefs? Why do some Christians and Muslims assume that Hindus, Buddhists and others would go to an afterlife that isn't even a part of their faith? Do Christians and Muslims truly have the One True Universal Faiths by which all people are judged despite their own faith?

Wouldn't it make more sense to assume people go to the afterlives of their own faith? It which case, Hell is a Christian and Muslim afterlife and only Christians and Muslims will be in Hell.

You've heard of near death experiences?
People see things that conform with what the were taught.
Christians in near death experience report experience that is in conformance with Judeo/Christian expectations.
Hindus....Hindu stuff.
Muslims...Muslim stuff.
You think they would report the same sort of experience.
But they don't.

You're assuming that religions are right. Religions are an invention of Man to control other men. "Holy books" are written and edited by man. The carrot and stick approach to keeping people in a religion (heaven and hell) are a good way to keep the ignorant in line and believing. Shine the light of knowledge on people and they cannot be trapped by the Word of Man.
Think about this. If every religion that believed in heaven and hell were right, everyone would be going to hell. Does this make sense? Not to me.
Read and research this on your own. Eckhart Tolle, Wayne Dyer, Dan Millman, Dali Lama, and many others will give you ideas that you can formulate into your own life philosophy.

Oh, sure. One true religion, that has never changed and has always had the one and only truth! I think not. But, the only way religion can keep a hold on its adherents is to espouse that nonsense.
All religions try to lead you to God, or spirit, or Krishna, or some expanded idea of the universe. This is not a bad thing. But, acting like everyone else is wrong about it IS a bad thing. Been very bad for the planet. Lots of religious wars, don't you know.
So, whatever happens after we drop our bodies probably has nothing to do with whatever religion is trying to get you to believe while you are alive. I'll bet it's WAY grander than they could imagine. And we all get to find out! What fun!
Namaste!

no, because people believe their own faith, and not that the others could be true.

No, they just think they do. Most likely everyone goes where they believe they go, or maybe we will all cease to exist at all when our bodies die.
