Religious people can be some of the most prideful and arrogant people. They can be some of the most spiteful and unforgiving people. If having an unforgiving spirit is a sin than church folk are on the 10 most wanted sinners list. Church people have taken hate and prejudice and raised it to an art form. When it comes to Christians being "judgementally closed minded" it is because they are not reading their Bibles.
In Matthew 18:21-35 The man who received personal forgiveness but refused to forgive the man who owed him a mere "hundred denarii's," was labeled a "wicked servant" because he was forgiven his debt which wasfar more than the debt he refused to forgive.
The power of forgiveness is immeasurable. It is a power that Jesus used often and even delegated to his followers.
Luke 17:3-4 "Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying I repent, you shall forgive him".

If I were the Devil, I would do my best work on the people that were supposed to be representing God...I would make the Church become the most repulsive, abrasive and evil orginization in the world...Eventually no one would believe in God if the majority of the folks selling His wares were less than pleasant to be around.
My experience in dealing with RELIGION is that it has very little to do SPIRITUALITY...The difference is that religion is people jumping through hoops while they continue to be mean, angry and hurtful to others...And spirituality is someone getting to know their creator and slowly beginning to think of others before themselves.
EVERY church I went to over the last 25 years had LITTLE to do with the BIBLE...If you ACTUALLY read the Bible you'll find that the main point that God is trying to make is that He LOVES us...Also, if it's not in the BIBLE more than just once, I DON'T spend much time on it...I'm glad Samson grew out his hair and got super strong then tore down a building, but I'm NOT going to start a church based on that...But on the other hand, I read over and over, "the more you give away, the more you'll have" and "above all your gifts and sacrifices, I want you to be merciful"...The church is NOT meant judge the world!
It's NOT so much about right and wrong as much as it's about thinking MORE about the SPIRITUAL side of existence and LESS about the NATURAL...If your STUFF at home is more important than someone else's happiness, you're in need of a change...
The people in my life that have the MOST faith in the great beyond DON'T spent ANY time in church...I'm not saying church is bad but eventually you CAN'T stand on the faith of others...You have to go MEET God on your OWN terms...No one else can do it for you.
My point is that the people in church that seem so darn mean at times, do so because they really DON'T know their Creator...They don't spend ANY time reading their Bible outside a couple hours on Sunday.
Like I said before, if I were the Devil, and if I wanted to win the war, I would SNEAK into the enemy's training camp and make sure they were pointing their gun at themselves so when they went to war, they'd shoot themselves before they shot MY troops.

Having lived with the aid of a era of my existence as quickly as I in simple terms could no longer fathom how each physique ought to have faith in God, i understand precisely how an Atheist feels approximately faith. i understand all of the suggestions and confusion and arguments they make, by way of fact i've got executed it in the previous. I additionally comprehend why they sense that way. If I hadn't felt the Hand of God on me, and been no longer able to disclaim the indisputable fact that He does exist, i might nonetheless be there. by way of fact I actual have been there, i know how an Atheist feels approximately me asserting I felt God. i'm getting what they're thinking. i might, even with the indisputable fact that, like to enable an Atheist into my suggestions for an afternoon so as that they could understand what I now understand and be waiting to comprehend i'm no longer insane or stricken by delusions. i might gladly share my suggestions for an afternoon if it meant they could have the insurance and happiness I now have as a follower of Christ.

Repeat after me:
"If it's not interpreted from the bible, it cannot exist."
Practice that for a while, then sit in a hot, expensive, tax-free building with 400 other people chanting the same mental hymn.
There! Now that you have all the answers, your life is easy! You can blame ANYTHING on someone else's "evil" and spend your days thinking about Jesus! No guilt, no remorse, and there are so many that think JUST LIKE YOU DO!
Gosh, it sounds so COOL!

For your own peace of mind and intellectual honesty, please don't judge all of any group by the most offensive among them.
I know it's not easy. It's something I struggle with on a regular basis.
It's worthwhile doing, though, because it frees you to see what goodness there is in religious people, and why would you want to deprive yourself of that?
Bright Blessings!

There are good and bad, non-religious and religious. I am sorry if those are the only types you have met. You shouldn't let SOME speak for the masses.

How about practicing what you preach?

Because Monotheism is based on the idea of intolerance (the "we're right and everyone else is wrong" syndrome), bullying (our God is real and he doesn't like the fact that you aren't one of us, so he told us to duff you up) and lack of responsibility (it doesn't matter what WE do to mess up the world and screw up other people's lives because a. our God told us to, and/or b. I'm one of the chosen ones, and I just have to say sorry to God and then I won't get punished). Monotheism makes adults into childish nasty self-centred pieces of work who have no perspective, and think that the consequences of their actions don't matter, because their god will pat them on the head when they die, and give them a gold star for saying lots of prayers and harrassing non-believers.

Because religion has never done anything to strengthen one's relationship with the Creator. One must have Spirituality (a personal relationship with God) or that religion is useless.
