HI there...the mother cat will stimulate her kitten's elimination by licking his anus and genital area with her rough tongue. You can emulate this process with a warm, rough washcloth. It may take a couple of feedings to see results, so don't despair if they doesn't defecate right away. Urinating may take a bit longer.

Normally, kittens will have a couple of firm, yellowish stools per day if they are being properly fed. Most kittens can control their own bowel movements at about 10 days old.

Hi there,

Orphaned kittens are a big deal and need the utmost in supportive care. If they were separated from there mother too early, which is really anything under 12 weeks, they can develop a lot of immunity problems, and some do not survive. The first 48 hours are critical. The fact that you are caring for them however is to be applauded. In my experience, if some or all of them do not get the "first milking", this is when problems happen. They will most likely need a specific formula and round the clock care from dehydration in the form of an oral dropper to give fluids with electrolytes (pedialyte or oatmilk with honey). Also, they may need an enema for the same reasons. This can be the cause of constipation and diarreah. If you look online about these cases you will see many other people and vets who know how to handle this. Dont give up, be positive! Even though it's hard it is well worth healthy kittens! Also look into New Zealand Colostrum for kittens that didnt get enough of there mothers milk, it is considered very, very beneficial for this. I wish u the best!!

It's basically the same as stimulating them to urinate.... except you stimulate the anus instead of the penis/vulva. I have used a wet tissue.....if they haven't been eating there may not be enough solid material yet to make feces. If they are dehydrated, even a little, that may make them constipated. I don't know the circumstances in which they became orphaned and how long they were left without food, so be sure to give them as much as they want to eat at first to compensate for any fluid/nutrient loss.

ok first of all , see you later as he has a bowl stream once an afternoon or little longer its ok, yet he will be constipated and would want to be seen through a vet, stimulate his bum softly with warmth water and ur fingers,as grose because it variety of feels you aare the change of the mummy and there is no mama cat to lick his bum. he could be getting some ml each and every 2-3 hours, yet when he's hungry supply him a touch extra, make constructive he's likewise warmth in his mattress, supply him a warmth pad and wrap it in a tea towel so as that it doesnt burn him, sure they could cry once they eat yet he needs to apply the washroom after each and each and every meal, likely urination to empy his bladder so he can sleep peace ful. also you want to feed him a "kitten change milk formula"that u can get at a puppy keep, its mandatory, and please do attempt back to bottle feed as he would only be fussing, the hollow will be too small and he's pissed off. in case you discover the project worsens take him to the vet PLEASE

Use a warm, damp cotton ball and massage their anus and belly. If this doesn't produce a bowel movement,go to the drugstore and get some infant glycerin suppositories.Break a tiny piece off of one and insert it into the kittens rectum. It should produce a bowel movement in a few minutes. You can also add a drop of Karo syrup to their formula.I hope this helps.

Use a wash cloth moistened with warm water to gently rub the anal area; this will simulate the behavior of the mother cat, who would lick the area to prompt a bowel movement.

Give them softer food. If you are feeding hard food (dry food), put some water in it and make a gravy mix.
Make them run and play with something they like, such as an interesting toy. Exercise will stimulate them and they will finally have a bm. Good luck. You are nice to raise orphaned kittens.

This is kinda gross, but you might take a wet washrag and wipe around the butt and genitals and see if that works. I read somewhere that the mother has to lick them down there to make them go so maybe the wet washrag will feel similar to that.

Take a warm, wet washcloth and gently rub it on the rectum. It's supposed to be like the mother's tongue. It worked for me when I helped raise a neonatal pup for school.
