I'm assuming that you are talking about for when you give birth. If thats the case then....A change of clothes (comfortable ones), undergarments, personal effects - like toothbrush, deodorant, hairbrush. You might want to take a small amount of makeup with you so you can look fresh for pictures. If there's something that would make you feel comfortable like your bathrobe or slippers you can do that too. Don't forget a camera too.

For the baby you'll just need items for the car ride home and 1 or 2 changes of clothes, the carseat, probably a hat, a sweater, some booties and a blanket to keep warm. If there's something you want in the baby pictures like a stuffed animal, a specific outfit, or a blanket you should bring that as well.

Extra socks...some comfy ones! Maybe a house coat and some comfortable PJ's so you don't have to sit around in a gown that is showing God knows what to everyone in your room. For your go home clothes, pack something loose fitting. You may want to take the book "What to expect the First year" It tells you what to expect for you after delivery and what to expect when you get the baby home. Take you own pads. The ones the hospital gives you are really big! Also, I took some charmain toilet paper. some people think this is crazy, but the last thing you want after delivering a baby is hospital toilet paper that feels like sand paper! And then of course all of you shower stuff and maybe some makeup and stuff to fix your hair b/c there will be lots of pictures. And don't forget the camera! Good luck and congrats!

For you

~Pajamas
~Robe
~House shoes
~Socks
~Chap stick
~Hairbrush & Hairbow
~Toothbrush/Toothpaste/Deodrant (But they do have this at the hospital for you)
~Clothes (loose fitting) for the day you get out of the hospital
~Panties
~Your own maxi pads (Heavy flow ones)
~Your own pillow

For your baby

~Outfit for the hospital photo
~Socks
~Blanket & Recieving Blanket
~Have the car seat already in the car

They will have the little shirts, onesies, Diapers, wipes, etc there for the baby including bottles & formula

~Take the baby book with you if you want footprints put in the book
~~Everytime they bring the baby into the room snatch the diapers off underneath the baby bed and the wipes -stock up-
It will really help you out by doing this and most likely they will give you a diaper bag
~One more tip- Rest while you can even though you will be in the hospital
Good luck and congrats

People laughed at me for the anount od stuff I had packed for the hospital so I may be the wrong person to answer this, but I had 2 sets of baby clothing for 0-3 months, 3-6 months and a set of 6-9 months because everyone told me he would be too big for new born clothes. (we ended up having to go buy a preemie outfit) I took tooth paste tooth brush, hair brush, shampoo, and conditioner ( and my hospital supplied all that stuff). I packed a lot of quarters for the vending machines. Take a bath robe and slippers because they usually make you walk.

You need to take lotion for yourself, tooth paste and tooth brush, hair brush and comb, night clothes, jogging pants if you plan on wearing your own clothes at the hospital and a few shirts, panties, socks, hair ties and word puzzles, books, and ink pens, phone numbers of those you want to brag to about the baby being so cute,a camera with extra film, insurance card, snacks like crackers, chips, deoderant. For the baby Im sure you know that you need clothes to bring him/her home in,diapers, socks, lotion. The hospital will supply you with most of these items for you and the baby but nothing is better then your own.Oh and a car seat.

Comfortable PJ's , some warm socks (if your having a c-section those are good to have, after surgery you get really cold) your own shampoo and conditioner, panties, some clothes to wear when you leave and of course a good bra. Keep in mind that by the time you leave the hospital your breast will start to fill up with milk ,so leave your victorias secret 's at home.

You need to go on a tour of the maternity ward and ask what they provide there...I took so much stuff that I ended up with three bags, and the staff looked at me like I was daft, but I didn't know that they provided a lot of stuff free of charge....
