My step-dad has been in my life since I was 5. He is a great man and I love him dearly. And I know he loves me. My biological "father" was never there for me and isn't now. I don't even call my dad "step-dad", he is just dad to me. Half the time I dont even acknowledge the fact that he is not my biological father. I'm getting married in May and we will do our father daughter dance as is tradtion. The only problem is that neither of us are overly sappy. Most songs I like talk about watching your daughter being born and things like that. Since he wasn't there for my birth I don't find the song appropriate. I would like a nice sweet country song that isn't overly sappy. Suggestions anyone??

I think "Butterfly Kisses" is beautiful and appropriate. It doesn't matter that he was not there at your birth.......he IS your Dad now and always will be. I bet you can't even think of a time when he wasn't with you.
I know what I'm talking about because my Dad adopted me when I was 10 and I know he is more my Dad than the "sperm donor" I came from is.
I congratulate you on your marriage and think you are blessed to have found such a wonderful person to be your Dad.
God be with you both.

I don't know how old you are, but, I think I have a good one, it is for sure one step dad will know, by the beatles, it's a little sappy but sweet and I think it addresses what you want, it is called In My life....
words are:
There are places I'll remember all my life, though some have changed, some forever not for better some have gone and some remain..It goes on,,,,he'll know it, you can gett the words on line, it is a beautiful song and the message is we found each other against all odds and we may have other people in ou pasts but if we got to choose, we would choose each other...take it a listen...step dad would love it and so would you. Hey congrats, you sound lovely, make sure you give him a card, reminding him how much he has meant to you, he will love that. What a nice man he sounds like...

There is a really cute song called "He Didn't Have To Be" by Brad Paisley. It's basically about a boy who gets a stepfather and he becomes just like a dad to him but the only bad thing is that he says in the song "I hope I'm at least half the dad that he didn't have to be." So I guess it's really more of a boy to his stepfather kind of song but if that doesn't really bother you I think your stepfather would really appreciate it.

Try typing in something like father daughter dance into a search engine and their are so many websites filled with great songs. Just listen to them and go from there. Good Luck and Congratulations!

How about "The dad he didn't have to be" by Brad Paisley...it's a GREAT song about a guy in the life of a kid that did all the dad things even though they weren't blood related.

Hope this song works.....Good Luck!!

And "Happy Marriage"

You Needed Me - Anne Murray and Boyzone

I think it's supposed to be a romantic song, but I think the lyrics express the love you have for your dad.

I cried a tear, you wiped it dry
I was confused, you cleared my mind
I sold my soul, you bought it back for me
And held me up and gave me dignity
Somehow you needed me

You gave me strength to stand alone again
To face the world out on my own again
You put me high upon a pedestal
So high that I could almost see eternity
You needed me, you needed me

And I can't believe it's you,
I can't believe it's true
I needed you and you were there
And I'll never leave
why should I leave, I'd be a fool
'Cause I've finally found someone who really cares

You held my hand when it was cold
When I was lost you took me home
You gave me hope when I was at the end
And turned my lies back into truth again
You even called me friend

You needed me, you needed me
