I am very concerned about the enviroment and believe that just doing little things can help a great deal, but how do I get the people around me informed and doing something witouth sounding like an eco maniac? I am in the military and would like my base to be more enviromentally counsious, by just taking simple measures, but I need to come up with a good proposal, how do I do that? What are you doing to help the planet?

First step is to stop using global warming which has been largely discredited (by respected scientists) and use the now accepted term of "Climate Change".

Global warming theory falls because whilst some areas of the earth are getting warmer others are getting colder leading some scientists to suggest a new ice age is more likely!

But fear not - a lot of what has been recognised from global warming ideas is also just as correct in Climate Change.

You do not say what military you are in but the US, UK and most Western military do have policies. These tend to be:-

Electricity conservation - switch off when not needed
Water conservation - turn off when not needed.
Recycling
Prevention of pollution -washdowns & soaps etc
Use of recycled products - paper

Sadly the military have a lot of items that they now throw away because it is more ecenomical to replace than repair. This leaves the door open to either selling the damaged equipment by auction, sending it for recycling or donating it to worthy causes.

Good luck

Education is the biggest thing. There are many people who do not believe that the activities of man have anything to do with the current warming trend that the planet is undergoing. In fairness, we do not have concrete proof that man is the cause, however current scientific information does seem to point in that direction.
You need to make those in power aware of the issue, and not only what the issue is, but the possible reprocussions of global warming. If you can, find a way to put it in monetary terms. People understand money the best. Show them that the costs of doing nothing far outweigh the costs of "going green"

Global warming is a joke on u. Most of Global warming is based on CO2 the environmentalist say that CO2 has increased 30 % it has not. It should of but where did the CO2 go? Go measure it it is definitely not there, If the CO2 isn't there global warming is not there. I have found where it all went we have something that is helping us. The green plants & trees are taking in CO2 and giving us oxygen.

Bases like to save money. That's probably best approach to work your proposals around.

people are reacting around you. They know something you can't fathom. We so called spoilers of the environment know we have extremely little impact on it. The changes you are concerned about will happen regardless of what you do. Live on the Earth and just adapt.

One thing at a time. Are they recycling paper? If not, why not? What could you do to make it happen? Good luck, you're on the right track!
