Go to www.dbpoweramp.com then download the music converter. It's a great program, I use it myself.

This is a LAME question and deserves a LAME answer. The answer is LAME. LAME is an open source mp3 encoder that is available from http://lame.sourceforge.net/index.php. My advice would be to use this encoder as it is primarily the base for all the bulky programs everyone else is LAMEly suggesting.

try goldwave

http://www.goldwave.com/

make sure you also download / install the Lame32 file as well
you need this to encode to .mp3

once you get it set up

click on Open - (to open a song)
then click on File - Save as
you can alter (if you want) the following -
- Save in (to save the song to the folder you want it in)
- File name - (you can change this to what you want to name it)
- Save as type - this is where you convert it from .wav and click on .mp3
then click the Save button

you can also trim songs with this program - and add different effects to it as well - nice l'il program - I've been using it for years

good luck
rock on
