First of all, know that a fever is a sign of a healthy immune system. Your baby girl's body is probably fighting off a virus. If you can get her to take some baby Motrin, that will help bring the fever down. I have found that the dropper in baby Motrin is an easy way to administer the medication. Because she seems happy, and I am assuming, like herself then that is a good sign. Push the fluids, water or juice or if you are breastfeeding, try to get in some extra time nursing. How did you take her temp? There are some variations in temperature when taken orally, anally or under the arm, so depending on where you took the temp read, there could be some discrepancy between her actual temperature and what was read. Good Luck. I know how scary it is for your baby to be sick for the first time.

The hight of the temp is not as important as the way the child is acting. If the baby has 104 temp but is running around, playful, drinking fine, then give tylenol or motrin and wait it out. On the other hand if the temp is 99.0 and the child is lifeless, won't drink etc, then they need to see a doc asap. My son has febrile seizures, so that is something to watch for, but a seizure is not caused by the height of the temp. It is caused by how fast the temp goes up or down. Could she be teething? Some docs will tell you that teething does not cause fever, but believe me it does. My daughter does not regulate her temperature, so we are constantly battling high temps. If she gets hot or is overdressed, she spikes 104 temps. It is ok to let her sleep just keep an eye on her. Good Luck

You can watch a fever for up to 3 days before taking action...But that is pretty high, and at her age it is dehydrating her, that is why she is so sleepy. Give her gatorade or pedialyte, and alternate between childrens tylenol, and motrin...and that should hold you until further instructions from her Dr.

Give her motrin and alternate every other time with tylenol. Give her a luke warm bath. and dont overdress her. If her fever becomes any higher take her to the ER which you probably should have if her fever is over 103..

Does she have a sore throat or any pain anywhere?? Is her throat red or her tonsils swollen-0r the glands in her neck- I would give her some tylenol and make sure she gets plenty of water- and if she goes to md- let them know she got tylenol- so she does not get a double dose= D

You need to cool her down, give her a bath in warm water and wash under her armpits, the water will lower her temperature. If you have some pediatric childrens tylenol or motrine it will bring her temp down also.
