I am sorry but I am rather perplexed by your question.

There is perhaps more to the matter than you are prepared to reveal. It appears that you may be or at least you feel you may be resonsible for your father toing so much under the booze. Were you in some way responsbile(e.g. by your unresponsive attitude, your lack of ability/readiness to take pains to rise in life, your unloving attitude towards father) for his deterioration into heavy drinking ? Please carefully consider the various aspects and wherever you find yourself lacking go fill up the detail. Then and then only there would be some justification of such questions .Otherwise it would be just an empty show ,this show of abnegation..

Hi,
First take a deep breath and relax. It is NOT your fault. Then you should find an Alanon meeting in your area. This is a group of people like you who are relatives of alcoholics. These people have been and are in the same type of situation that you are in. They really help...I know, I've been there. God Bless

Its not your fault. Unless he is already on parole for something horrific, or unless he killed somebody while drunk driving, He won't get 21 years. It sounds like a couple years incarcerated may assist your dad in quitting his alcohol problem though.

It's not your fault your dad got DUIs, You didn't make him drink. People have to accept responsibility for their own actions. and I doubt very much he'll get 20 years unless he hurt or killed someone in an accident

There is no way it could have been your fault. He is the adult and he made the decision to drink and drive. He knew better and he knew this could happen.

I understand your grief but please do not let it drag you down. Make every effort to be the best you can be and make your dad proud of you.

Well you did not twist his arm and make him drink and drive. He's an adult and he chose to drink and drive four times! Luckily he did not kill anybody! So look on the bright side it could be a whole lot worse!

Did you put the beer in his hand? Did you give him the keys? Unless you did, then it's not your fault!

You should really go try the AA meetings that they have for family members of alcoholics.

well you didnt commit the DUI your dad did. You can't see or watch everything he does and stop it. He is a grown man and personally I think he deserves the sentence (sorry i hate drunk drivers.) There was nothing you could do to prevent him from drinking and driving...but he definatelly should have know better after the 3rd time! i also hope they revoke his license before someone gets killed.

why would yo uthink it is your fault? Was it really you driving and he took the rap? If so, turn yourself in. If not, you cannot control what others do. HE chose to drink, HE chose to drive. HE got caught. What part of that is YOUR fault?
