They might get scared of us, when we used logic to explain why we don't believe in god.

Atheism doesn't damage society, religion does, spreading bigotry and intolerance as each religion claims in its arrogant way to be the 'true' one. Moslem "humanity" is well known, with its stonings, whippings, amputations, misogyny, forced marriages and, in some countries, death for those who try to renounce their faith. Christian values can be found in Leviticus and Deuteronomy ("if children are shameless enough to talk back to us, we should kill them"), slavery is accepted and every man is free to sell his daughter into sexual slavery (Exodus 21).
Christians SHOULD be scared of atheists because they expose their nonsense about creation. If the world was created by intelligent design, why is it that 99% of all the creatures that inhabited this planet are now extinct? Viruses like HIV, as well as a wide range of harmful bacteria, are EVOLVING all the time. If the human body was made by some supreme being, why is it so flawed, why do men have a urinary tract that runs directly through the prostate gland? A woman's pelvis has not been as intelligently designed as it could have been for childbirth, and so thousands of women suffer from obstetric fistula.
If the Christians are right, and there is a God, he must be either impotent or evil. He sits back and watches 9/11, 7/7. the tsunami, Darfur, widespread famine in Africa, countless evil dictators pursuing genocide - and he is either powerless or he enjoys it all?
Children are taught to believe in Father Christmas, but fortunately they grow out of that. Sadly, so many people grow into adults and fail to think rationally and logically, preferring to believe in the face of all evidence that the world is just a few thousand years old, and that someone in the sky watches their every move and knows their every thought....
We would think someone who worships Zeus or Poseidon is insane, but we are expected to respect the monotheistic religions which followed. The Bible is right because it says it is right. It is God's word because it says it is God's word, and no doubt the Koran claims something similar. Let Chistians give us some reasoned and rational arguments, supported by evidence - but of course they can't. That's why they should be scared - but they are probably too arrogant and blinkered.

Those are two different questions. Some christians are people. People tend to have emotions. Like fear. Maybe they once had a scary experience with a hostile atheist with a gun. Maybe they are threatened by someone making fun of their best Friend... Jesus. (Just in case you didn't catch Who I was referring to.) As to when the last time an atheist came to my door to convince me of their beliefs..hmmm. Never. They don't tend to care enough about me or my eternal well being to bother. You see, they think there are no consequences for how one lives his or her life. Most Christians try to tell others about the Good News they know and believe. They have no selfish motives. They don't do it to get to heaven either. They do it, because Christ made them compassionate towards others. I am speaking ideally of why they do it. Not every Christian is quite like Christ. I hope that answers your question and trumps any other christian bashing comments that are occuring right now as I type.

They don't like what they don't understand.
They have lived their whole life with a God in their lives and the idea of not having one is preposterous. There are too many questions that would go unanswered, they would be lost, and so they can't understand anyone who would choose to live their lives without the one true constant. They seem to believe that they would become some moral incompetent and would have no rules to tell what and what not to do.

Atheism suggests science, freethinking, and reason. These are not attributes of the average Christian, they simply follow where lead. The history of Christianity ( not the Bible) reveals an endless attack upon intellectual thought, poverty is tolerated. but science is feared. In England universal education of the people was opposed by the Church of England, deeming it dangerous for the `word`.

Perhaps believers like myself arent so much afraid of atheists themselves but the damage atheistic philosophy is doing to society. We realize we cant control society nor do we wish to but we do like to have a degree of conservative values in order to keep society glued together for our children and grandchildren which will be tempted by the world.

Perhaps because they can't explain their faith. If that is the case, do they have a real faith that helps them every day? Probably not. Some Christians are not afraid to explaing their beliefs, even if they are speaking to people with very different view points.

Are they?
What is there to be afraid of - God teaches us that everyone is entitled to their opinion and atheists all have theirs - so what is to fear?
Are you trying to make a point for atheists in a christian community for any other reason?
Have a great day!!!!

because (we) atheists stand for common sense, reality and the ability to stand on our own feet
this is something the god fearing (FEAR?? bizarre concept if ever i heard one) insecure prostrated weak people can or will not ever be.
If your god will persecute me eternally for not going to church weekly to tell him how good he is, then he is either cruel and vindictive or insecure.
i made my mind up from a very early age that i wanted no part of this mix of fairy storys and menaces if you dont comply .
Wake up you mind washed parrots and live you life
