a little bird similar to a parakeet i guess but i never bought a bird before and the one's i used to have were a gift but im not looking to spend more than $80 on one can someone give me a suggestion on what type of bird would be good for me

Cockatiels are awesome, but they are pretty needy. You can't keep them in a cage the whole time, they love human company. A normal grey, not a mutation, can be had for $80 or less.

Keep in mind that in addition to the cost of the bird, you need money for a good cage, food, toys, and vet visits (which can get quite expensive).

What kind of birds did you get as gifts? My bird was abandoned, and receiving another one this week also abandoned. I had dogs and horses, llamas and cows, have chickens, ducks, geese. any small bird is okay. I had a Zebra Finch and I loved that little bird. My daughter had him trained to sit on her shoulder. I never had a parakeet. So I don't know.

we have a red rump parakeet, a parakeet, and a rind nck dove. The ring neck is fun cause she makes cool noises, one of which sounds like laughing and it always freaks my friend out, and otherwise the sounds she make are alot less annoying htan other birds and she doesnt make alot of noise, good apartment bird

Cockatiels are great if they're not stuck in a cage.
