Giving up your son to die is a huge deal. Just because you know something is going to be okay eventually doesn't mean that the heartbreaking moment isn't tremendously hard to get through. For example, what if someone you love was in a car crash? You are told that they will be okay but to see them all torn up and hooked up to machines and the life is all drained out of them is still distressing.

Plus, Jesus is God. To have the God of the universe treated with such spite and evilness by mere humans is an incredible circumstance to bear. Since when it is no great thing for a parent to tolerate their child being ridiculed and mistreated to the extent of death? Jesus' death is a tremendous event, one that shows how passionate God's love is for us, how much He will give up in order to have a relationship with each of us. Yes, Jesus is back with his Father but what happened was no small feat.

if god knows the future (because god creates it) then god knew what would happen and therefore there was no gift. if god knew the outcomes, there was no risk involved. he offered his only son for sacrifice? but if jesus is the son of god there was no real death, and therefore it waas a deception and a trick. if god wanted mankinds cleansing of sin, it could have made it so without the theatrics of the life of jesus. we would just wake up oblivious to the fact that life was different.

the story sounds suspiciously like a man made idea, for it lacks the real extent of an onmipotent beings potential. you know, a constant face in the clouds would do more for believing in god than a man dying on a cross. come on scammers, get imaginative.

First of all, Jesus was not God's only son. He had myriads of other spirit sons. You say it was not a great thing what God did for mankind by sending his son? If you had the power God has, how would you feel holding back while you watched your son abused by humans, knowing you had the power to stop it? How would you feel watching your son languishing on a torture stake while others are mocking him? Jehovah indeed did a great thing by sending his son to die for mankind.

So you have never had a child, if you did, could you watch him die? Could you stand by and let it happen? God had to for us, the rest of His children to receive eternal life, yes he got him back, but he came here for us.

and supposedly Jesus knew this as he was dying. What's the big deal right?

And if he was really supposed to be a substitution to keep us from spending an eternity in hell, then shouldn't he be spending an eternity in hell?

well it is a big thing because Jesus died for all the people so they can live.
