I'm not a parent, but I have felt the crunch of the job market and know enough to give some advice. I am all in favor of a college education. Even if you end up working in a job that doesn't require a college degree, or if the job you get is not in your field, it will give you a big boost on your resume. A college education shows that one is disciplined and is willing to go the extra distance. All other things being equal, a potential employer will pick the college graduate over the one who has just a high school diploma. Any parent out there reading this should be heeding this if they want their kids to get anywhere in life.

Ya know I have been in college for 5 years now and my parents did help me a whole lot BUT there is so many ways you can go to school or send your kids to school.. there is money all over the place you just have to know how to ask for it, and how to fill out the right applications depending on which state you live in. There are leadership scholarships which pretty means extra money.. there is Salley mae.. Grants you can apply for.. government assistance.. hell at my university if you are a single parent you get a scholarship that pays half your tutiton and all your living expenses... I think that if you really want to go to college and so does your kids its possible.. College is so expensive but you dont have to pay all that money out of your own pocket... there is also Pell Grant.. Just reserach it more, No person that wants to go to college should not go just due to financial reasons.. there is way to much financial aid out there to use that as an excuse now.. and most grants or student loans you take out dont have to be paid back until after you graduate college anyway!

Well I am 24 and working my way through medical school all on my own. It's extremely difficult, and I'll be in debt for probably 10 years afterward... if I'm lucky I'll have my own house one day. My parents only have high school educations, and I can say that I really wish they had been able to send me. I'm so jealous of other students who have it made, with professional working parents with lots of money.
So my answer is YES, retail SUCKS! And I'm pushing really hard so that when I have kids, they'll be provided for and be able to achieve their dreams too

Well, I am not sure exactly how to answer this because it is very hard to understand your grammar. I am assuming that you are a female. I would want my children to have the best I could give them and the best that they could get. My guess is that they sent your brothers to school because they are a bit old fashioned and think that the male(your brothers) will be the heads of their households(bread winners etc.) and to them maybe the woman's job will be to keep the house and raise the family. I am not sure, however, because I do not know your parents, but, that is the way it sounds to me. Hope that helps.

I have a career (not in retail), and I didn't go to college.
Stop using your parents as an excuse.
Lots of people's parents can't afford to send them to college (like mine).
Maybe it's because they don't think you will bother to work hard enought to learn.
After all, you used the word "sended" and there's no such word.
Try bettering yourself by learning how to speak and spell correctly, and maybe you will impress them enough that they will change their minds.

Go to college if you want to. You are at the helm of your life and you are steering yourself in whatever direction you choose to go; with your actions or lack of them you plot your course. The government has financial aid packages to help if you qualify. Even a 2 year technical school will get you out of retail and doing something that pays better and is more interesting and challenging.

Sometimes parents cant help it. They all dream to have super kids with super lives, but fortune is not always at the corner of the street.
Whe you are a grown up, work it out by yourself, and fight to have a career.
Good luck !

Well, I know for sure that college is what I want for my kid so she doesn't use the wrong tense for send, which is not "sended", by the way, it is sent!

If you have to provide your own education you will be getting a double degree one in your chosen vocation, and the other in self
