Northern NJ cities: Hoboken, Weehawken, Union, Secaucus, Jersey City, Lyndhurst, Rutherford, North Arlington, Nutley, & Clifton.
All of which are easy, NJ transit and the Path train rides or bus rides into the city. The bus will take you to 37th & 8th port authority Bus terminal, the NJ transit trains go to Penn Station 32nd.
Or you can take the Path train--goes to 33rd or World Trade Center stop. Warmer weather, can take the ferry from Hoboken across the hudson river.

Hudson County or Newark
You can take the PATH train or NJ Transit to New York in less than an hour.
Newark to World Trade Center is only about 20 minutes on the PATH train!

That depends on where in Manhattan you're talking about. Jersey City and Hoboken are at the southern end, Weehawken is around 42nd st. and Fort Lee and Englewood are at the northern end
