I'm guessing you're talking about nautical stars; the ones with alternating colors. They were originally a sailor thing (hence "nautical"). They are a symbol for finding your way home, or for finding your path in life.

They're a lesbian thing. A nautical star on the inside of someone's wrist meant that she was a lesbian. Th placement was important because it could be easily covered up by a watch. This was mostly popular in the 40's and 50's (although my gf has one).

They're also a punk thing. They were popularized by Sailor Jerry, and go back to the original meaning of finding your way.

Depends on how many points the star has to it and which way is is pointed. If the star has five points and is flipped upside down then it is a pentical, start of defiance, satanists, and it is a start that is used for military. If the star is facing upright then it symbolises earth, air, fire, water, and the upper point represents the spirit. If it is a six pointed star then it is the Star of David. The Star of David symbolize God's rule over the universe in all six directions: North, East, South, West, Up, and Down. King David was a military hero among the Jews.

It means that the person, who is wearing it, wished to be a star, but could not quite make it.

If you are talking about the nautical star that has two colors..red/black, green/black, purple/black...etc. Those date back to the merchant mariner times. Sailors would get nautical stars.

if the stars you are talking about look like two triangles flipped together to look like a star then its the star of david, it usually has something to do with religon.

being in one with our planetary system, why bother with a tattoo as we`re all made from star dust,
so they think "its like hey I`m here I have a Tattoo, see me I`m different", really you ain't your the same species as me from the same place just your mind wants to be individual and be a wanna be circus act.... take note if the Tattooist's wanna do it for real go and live in a Country that ain't got the Internet and find out the real questions of life for themselves instead of asking mind numbing hell bent questions on what we are, find out the real life!
