My hair is curly, too. Shampoo makes it very difficult to brush through. I'm no hair expert, but i only use conditioner, and my hair seems fine. Definetly softer.

Hi! I'm a hair dresser, and I can tell you are best to just go buy a good shampoo for curly hair at a hair salon. Conditioner doesn't wash hair and you will just make it greassy, and not washing it will make it smelly. You should try to find L'Oreal's shampoo specially made for your hair type.It is called Liss Extreme, the bottle is a violet colour. I'm sure you will love it, you'll find that after a while you won't even need any conditioner and your hair will be easier to tame. You should also just comb it wet and leave it alone after, that will cause it to get really frizzy if you brush it dry. I'm sure you will have nicer hair with these tips!!!

Over washing your hair - especially with harsh products - can strip away too much of the natural oil. This oil comes from the scalp. I wash my hair every other day - after the gym.
This stripping can leave hair dry - which can, in turn, cause hair to become brittle and frizzy.
On my "non" washing mornings I throw on a shower cap to take a shower. Then I brush my hair and hit the roots with a blow dryer to redistribute the oils.
What you're suggesting will work - but not every time. The opposite can also happen - too much gunk, both natural and from conditioner, can weigh hair down, make it appear dull and at worse appear greasy.
You should try a routine where you only wash your hair every other day, and use a deep conditioning treatment in the shower twice a week. Butter Treat by Redken is a miracle and you can even apply a small dollop to the ends of your hair to help prevent split ends and keep it manageable.

The Conditioner will not clean your hair. It is intended to aid your hair according to the type of conditioner you have. To help with the frizz you need to try to use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. With curly hair, I know this from personal experience, you automatically have dry hair. The Moisturizing shampoo will help to offset this and therefore will help in controlling the frizz. There are good products out there that are not expensive, or you can ask your stylist to make some recommendations.

I've heard that you can skip shampoo and use just conditioner but just on days when you don't want to completely wash your hair. Conditioner isn't meant to clean your hair so I wouldn't suggest ditching shampoo. I found that the right combination of shampoo and conditioner makes my hair healthier and softer--but mine isn't curly, just a little frizzy. Maybe it'll work for you.

I have very long curly hair. It may sound gross but I only wash it 2x a week. I usually just spray a curl enhancer (boost) to keep the curls fresh. BY not washing your hair it helps the curls not to dry out since curly hair is naturally dry to begin with. Also if you must wash it only wash the roots. Put shampoo on your hands and then rub into the roots only, then rinse what falls on the ends is fine just don't put or rub it in (at the ends). If you do the conditioner rinse Do not put near the roots you will get flat grease hair. Good Luck

some hair stylists recommend that if you have fine limp hair to not wash as often, but if you condition it only, you're gonna end up with greasy stringy hair. look for a smoothing shampoo/conditioner combo (dove and thermasilk are really good at smoothing, and wal-mart has their "equate" brand so they're not expensive.) the best thing to do to control the frizz is to make sure you don't dry it at too high heat and (although this ones almost impossible some days) avoid humidity. Sometimes we just gotta get a hat!!

I wash my hair every day, haven't gone bald yet. And my hair stylists have always told me how lucky I am to have such healthy and soft hair. Hair does have different textures, mine is fine, and those textures affect how soft hair feels. If your hair is coarse, you need to find a conditioner that works for your hair. Several companies make products for curly hair, both shampoo & conditioner.

I always feel that shampoo "Cleans" my hair, while the conditioner "conditions". It's what makes it softer. Have you ever tried a spray leave-on conditioner. They make your hair feel soft and make it easier to comb through with a wider bristled comb. Good luck

I think you should use both because if you don't use shampoo then your hair won't get cleaned properly. Even if you say no you can look for this shampoo that is for people with curly hair I know they sell it.
