I mean if you only raped and sodomized a person that's not as bad as killing them so you could get like what just a couple years in Hell? Then Heaven? When will people actually read the Scriptures?

People want to believe it's graded on a curve so they can stretch it to the limit. there is no prison time in hell, your there for life when you go so it's better to do right than wrong and it's very difficult to lead a life with out sining. You proably won't dit down to really read the sciptures until you get older and have some extra time on your hands and than you'll see how things should be.

I think a lot of it comes from the fact that God is both merciful and just. He has given mankind specific laws/commandments and expects them to folllow them (in addition to believing and having faith in the grace of God). Because God is just it doesn't make sense he would punish a murderer the same as someone who lies. If God failed to judge justly he would cease to be God, because he would be going against his own laws.

As for myself, whether or not Hell is an actual location is not in the Bible. You can't say you know what Hell is, I'm certain. I believe Hell is more of a state of mind or self-inflicted. In this life if we fail to overcome the self we will be tormented in the afterlife due to the inability to satiate our desires. Under this theory, the rapist or killer will be tormented by their own behavior and acts, so yes, it will be a different punishment. (I understand this is a very simplistic description, and I believe there is more complexity, I'm just not going to go into it here).

You sound so certain, but based on the facts you can't be.

Taking your judgment at face value, then we must include children who sass their elders, divorced people, and those who dream about raping or killing others. We end up no better than those who lived before Jesus taught us a better way. For your own salvation, do not follow ideas that will make you hate others. Its not the way to salvation.

Hell is eternal. Purgatory, on the other hand, is a temporary state of purification before entering Heaven.

I'm reliably informed that Jeffrey Dahmer is in heaven (see link). If that's the case, then I don't care what the admission criteria may be, I'm not going!

Look, you can rape and sodomize and kill all you want as long as you accept Jesus in the end. Haven't you ever heard of redemption? Get a life and start reading the Bible, before you burn!!

Human nature, including your own, wants to justify their existence.
We want to have a part in the salvation plan.
God had a better idea.
Jesus Christ and Him alone.

If we repent we get forgiven of "all" our sins. "Repent" being the key word.
