yes. you did good by the poor guy.
1) if you did not take him in, he could've gotten killed.
2)yes, he will do just fine on 3 paws. he will need time to adapt.just give him lots of love and patience.
3)being in the cage is for HIS protection so that he does not overdo or exert his already messed up paw or that none of the other cats pick a fight with him
by doing this for him you've saved his life. now he won't get hit by car, teased by kids or worse killed by some sicko who gets off on tormenting or sacrificing pets

We used to have a kitten we adopted that had 3 legs, and he did fine. In fact, he was the boss of our other cats. he didn't ever fall over because he used his tail almost like another leg. If our cat could do okay with 3 legs, that cat will be fine with 3 paws.

You would be suprised how well dogs move about on 3 legs I'm sure a cat will be no diffrent. If the leg is causing him so much pain that really is the best thing. Most of the time animals seem to not even know they are missing one! You deffinately did the right thing, dont worry~!

Cats do fine with three paws. They can go just as fast as a cat with four paws most of the time. I have even saw a dog before on the montell or maybe the maury show that only had his back legs and he was doing just fine hopping along.

I think you absolutely did the right thing. You cannot bring every homeless cat into your home. The cat is getting the medical treatment it needs and is safe from further harm. Cats with three legs do very well so the cat refuge will try to find a safe indoor home for it. Cats that have to be in cages waiting for the right home really do quite well. Dogs are much more likely to get "stir crazy" in kennels and many have to be euthanized for that reason.

Bless you for getting this poor kitty into caring hands!
Yes, you did good.
Cats do fine on three legs. I belong to a large on-line group of people dealing with Feline Vaccine Associated Sarcoma, and since veterinary protocol changed to vaccinating cats in the legs (to allow for amputation if cancer should develop) we have many, many three-legged cats in the group. We call them "tripods" and they all do very well "without that extra leg," as we say.
My VAS kitty wasn't an amputee because he was vaccinated in the scruff area, but I have a kitty friend in the neighborhood who lost a leg after being run over by a school bus. He was seven years old at the time of his accident and he's now nineteen, still spry and active "on all threes."

Cats do perfectly fine with only three legs. If they do have to remove the paw, they'll probably remove the whole leg (hip/shoulder down) as it's actually easier for them to balance with NO limb there than with a partial (which they'd try to hobble around on, causing tissue damage).
Keeping him in a cage sounds mean, but it's for his own good. By being confined like that, he'll have to stay calm and will have less chance of injuring himself further. He'll be fine... whether he gets to keep the leg or not. :) You did good!

Good for you getting involved and helping. Not many people want to follow through with the care. They will rescue an injured animal then walk away.
You are doing just fine. Anything you do is better than what it had. Care, warmth, food and water, not to mention love. Staying in a cage until healed is not gonna hurt the cat at all.
Good luck to you.

you did the right thing. just think, if you hadnt picked him up he would probably be dead. and if he needs to have his paw amputated, thats just fine too. there are lots and lots of animals that live very happily with three legs. and besides, the cat would be happier not having a paw that could be painful to him if it is not amputated. whatever the vets have to do to help the cat, it will not be cruel

You absolutely did the right thing. Most animals who lose a leg do just fine. We have a tri-pod cat and he rules the herd.
