I am told that there is some sort of sound card that you can get for your computer that is specifically designed to be a turntable input/ computer inter-phase (if I said that right). Anyway, it is intended to allow you to transfer your vinyl collection to CD or DVD. I think that it also allows you to listen to records on the computer, which is what you want to do, if I am reading your question correctly. I have not tried one of these, but I am told that such a device exist. Check with some computer stores on this to see if this is so. Let us know what you find out, because this is interesting.

No ... not if you want the records to sound right. If you managed to find a way to hook up the turntable directly to your speakers, the records might sound thin or hollow. The thing that most people don't realize is that the "phono" input on the back of your stereo receiver or amp is different from say the "CD" input even though they may look the same. Also, the turntable needs a grounding attachment or you'll get a hideous humming sound when you play the records. You'll need some kind of mixer or receiver that has a specific phono input in order to play records through your computer speakers.

I think there is a USB turntable available on the market that you can plug into the USB port on your computer to listen to records. But I assumed that you didn't want to spend any money on having to buy new equipment.

It's possible. It would be best just to record it onto DVD or CD
and then download it from these formats to your computer.
