If they are really buffed away that will cost someone about $100 and take one day if you go to a place like Dent Doctor or its local equivalent. As long as the paint is not scraped off they can make it look like new.
Not getting the other person's info was a bad strategic move. It would be nice to be able to call them and see whether they are still feeling benevolent about not seeking a bucket of money for repairs.

You might have gotten lucky this time but you should always exchange information with the other person. It is also a good idea to keep a disposable camera in your vehicle so that you can pictures right at the scene. Don't know what or how this happened so I can't make a comment on liability. What I do know from what you've said is that you are driving around with no insurance. Have you ever thought about the consequences if you happen to be in a big crash and you are at fault? Forget the material damage portion, the injury portion will cripple you for life. Don't take foolish chances, protect yourself and insure your vehicle properly.

Perharps he thinks the same as you. He thought it was just a small scuff marks and he wouldnt mind it. But since the car isnt his, he cant make a decision about it. So if his son didnt contact you for the next few days, you should just put this incident aside and look foward. Dont let it bother you too much.

Well what do you think will happen? If you never hear from him, nothing will. If he calls you then it will be ugly. If he has damage that can't be buffed out, then you're going to have to fess up to being uninsured, and he can make a claim with his insurance company and they can determine if they will go after you. If he doesn't have coverage for his damages, then he can pursue you through all avenues.
Why no insurace? Why people? Why do you not protect yourselves!?!?!

He didn't show you any proof of insurance and no police report was written. If he tries to go after you, accuse him of stalking and forget about it.
Also, the son might get into annother accident later, and might try to pin it on you. Without a police report, the other party can't prove anything, and you can deny you were even in a car that day, or know anything about it.
Get insurance.

you should of gotton his details...that way if he is at fault he will have to repair your damage....if you have his rego plate details i would file a report with the police that way they can determine who is at fault and the cars be repaired...if you are at fault im sure you will hear from him.
if you let it be the worst that can happen is that you will never hear from the other driver and your car does not get repaired.....
