In as much as I was not around to see how everything came into being (and neither were you),I say, "I don't know ..... YET!" To assume that some god, my less than intellectual ancestors made up, instantaneously farted the universe into being, is absurd

I style myself an agnostic -- one who believes that it is not possible to know whether there is a god of some sort. The principal reason for not believing in a god is that the idea is provably useless: one can conclude nothing, from such an idea, about how the world works or what will happen next. Hence, to believe that a god exists is a total waste of time -- even if there is a god. Noted Catholic theologian Hans Kung, in a huge book entitled Does God Exist, examined the matter in excruciating detail and concluded that it is not possible by logic or evidence to determine whether god exists. Not surprisingly (after all, he is a Catholic priest), he chooses to take the affirmative view. I grew up in a nominally Christian family, but noted by the time I was 8 that the bible stories could not be reconciled with science. Since science works, it has to be right, and the bible had to go.

I used to be very much a believer. A few years ago I realized I was forcing myself to believe things I knew were not true logically. I look at the vast scope of the universe and it makes no sense that there could be a ruling supreme being who gives a flying flip if I get a good parking place. Many of the tenets of Christianity really bothered me, things like hell and the need to pray so good things will happen to you. IF there were a loving God, wouldnt you always get the best for your life, as he would only want the best to happen to you? I mean would your father deprive you of food if you didnt ask for it?
I also saw traits that God was portrayed as having that would be considered evil if a human being were to possess them. How would you feel if your boss demanded that you constantly praise him and tell him he was the best in the world and if you didnt he would be angry with you? Would you condemn your child to hell if your child believed a lie someone told him? (Supposedly the devil seduces us from God by lying.)
I am a very moral person. I honestly do try to live the golden rule, but not because of fear of god, but because its a very healthy way to live. So, I am not saying religions havent brought us some very positive things. I just cant believe anymore.

The bottom line is that there is no evidence for the existence of a god.
Religious texts only paint a picture of an all too human tyrant ruler. Additionally there is nothing "remarkable" about any religious texts.
There is zero legitimate documentation of any "supernatural" occurrences or "divine" healing.
Prayer has not been shown to accomplish anything,

The existence of so many other religions besides Christianity. Why is one right and not the other? Why Yahweh and not Allah? Why Christianity and not Hinduism or Buddhism?
It seems to me that if one individual deity really existed, he wouldn't even allow the establishment of other religions besides the "true" one. And I personally don't think he would allow so many different denominations of the same "true" religion, either. But the fact that there are so many different paths and so many different supposed "gods" leads me to believe that they're ALL wrong. And so far, that makes the most sense to me.

I simply do not see how one can exist, it defies all logic in my mind. I cannot comprehend why people do believe in a god, it just seems completely ludicrous. Atheism wasn't a choice for me. We do not have a name for people who don't believe in alchemy, that is just the standard position for normal people. I am the same with regards to god, I do not believe in it because I defies logic and reason. I was raised by agnostic parents who really didn't discuss religion.

well, there's this little thing called "evidence." It kind of helps with the credibility.
Nope, not raised atheist, just became one at 8 years old when I heard the story of Noah's Ark - I was like, you got to be sh*&^ me. And I found the behavior and brutalaity of the OT God dispicable. Jesus was okay, but the rest of the mess ruins it for me.

Thanks for asking our angle, it's important to understand all sides of the argument, even if you will never agree.
I believe there is no god because I don't see any reason to believe in god. That's pretty plain and simple I'd say...
