If you defrost frozen chop meat and then make into hamburgers, is it safe to refreeze meat (now hamburgers)?

Never under any circumstances refreeze meat that has already been frozen it is extremely dangerous and will be teeming with bacteria by the time it is defrosted a second time ,children will be particularly at risk due to their undeveloped immune system,eat what yo can of the defrosted meat provided it has not been defrosted more than 24hours, throw the rest out

You can refreeze meat if it has been thawed for less than 24 hours. Also, it is best if the meat has only been between the danger temperatures of 70 degrees F and 140 degrees F for less than 4 of those hours. More than 4 hours and bacteria starts to double.

When you thaw meat bacteria begins to grow on it. It is best to cook it right away to kill the bacteria. Ground meat is especially suceptible to bacteria growth because it is ground up. Generally refreezing give the bacteria a chance to sit on the meat then when you thaw it out more bacteria grows and that lessens your chances of killing all of the bacteria.

Even if it is safe, I wouldn't want to do it. I wouldn't take any chances with meat. You can get really sick if you don't do exactly what you're supposed to do. Besides anyway, it's fairly inexpensive to just buy more.
