I should also say that it is a desktop computer.

I will try and explain this better. You see , when I am on a site, all of a sudden what's on the screen will freeze. It is like the screen has been put on hold. I can't write anythingand when I click my mouse nothing happens but the mouse still moves. Everything is frozen except for the cursor. What causes this? How can I fix it? Thanx!

Also, try using Force Quit by pressing Command+Option+Escape.

You need to do a hard restart, puch power button (you probably figured that much), but you need to take note of what you are doing when it freezes. Is it with a specific application, is it with working with large files? You can also do a disk repair in the utilities section.

Press and hold the power button in until the computer shuts down. Then hit the button again to restart.

Read and run these steps after your forced restart. Afterwards I'd try and figure out why it happened, you're not posting enough for us to pinpoint the cause of the freeze.

hardboot the mac by holding in the powerbutton until it turns off and reboots, if this continues, reboot it again, but hold the D button, this will set it to default, in the meantime use that and contact a technician (Y)
