My x is supposed to be coming to my home tomorrow, to stay overnight. He has had a sickness virus for 2 days and is still ill today. He cought it from his flat mate.

He doesn't want to let me down because it's my birthday but I am concerned about catching this virus.

I suffer with depression so I can't afford to catch it, because it will pull me down mentally, aswell as physically.

When is the worst time of being in contact with someone, with this sort of virus?

This is an old wife's tale but it does work, peel and chop up some onions, put it in a glass bowl then half fill the bowl with some water, place the bowls in all your rooms, the virus will then go to the onion, sounds daft and house smells of onion's, but is does work.

Given your concerns, I would suggest to him that he stays in bed until he gets better.

Apart from the possibility that he may infect everyone else he comes into contact with on his journey to you, once he gets there (your home that is) he'll make it a contamination zone!

Sorry to sound harsh, but his flatmate already has it, so can't catch it again, and the flatmate can help look after him, since he was the initial carrier.

2 days into an illness is no way sufficient time for the body to fight the infection and start healing itself. Every time he breathes out, millions of spores will be ejected.

You two can always meet up another time when he's back to his usual healthy self.

Be polite and caring, but firm. I hope he understands.

Yes you can catch a virus. Obviously kissing would put you at the greatest risk from the virus. The virus is spread on the air and you breathe in the germs. So if you are in an enclosed space like your home then you will have a good chance of catching it. He must love you very much if he is getting off his sick bed to visit you.

He's you X!
Lighten up it won't make much of a difference if he isn't there,
unless you are having second thoughts about your relationship?

Every time is a bad time to be with someone with a virus.
Watch out and be careful.
You don't have to catch a virus because of him. He can't let you down by now coming,
You could be let down by catching the virus.

if you mean the flu, then people infected with the flu can infect others a couple of days before they even feel the symptoms. but I'm no doctor. i know at some point the flu virus will be over or ended whatever it does, and then it's a matter of clearing out your body like the coughing and such so at some point the person is not contagious. but again, I'm no doctor. you can always take vitamins if they don't interfere with any other meds you may be taking always check first.

Why take the risk? If your ex caught it from his flatmate then yes you could catch it from him. Tell him to stay away till he is clear, you can celebrate a belated birthday anytime!

find a lucky guy on yahoo to have cyber sex with... no catching viruses that way. Tell your "X" you'll see him in a few days. I mean he's your ex.. if it was your BF or fiance, that'd be a different matter.

if he is vomiting, stay away, and also best to stay away for 48 hours after. You can do another birthday another time, you really dont want to be barfing, especially when you are down already.

If it important for you to see him, then risk it. If you do plan on risking it spray Lysol. It worked when I had a low cell count. Good Luck

You seem to conceal the sickness your x has got, if it's that embarassing to mention, then, yes you will be infected.
