Yes, because the polygraph test measures pulse, respiration, heart rate, etc.you can flunk a polygraph if you are the extreme nervous type. They clain that experience examiners can tell the difference between nervousness and deception. If this were the case, why is it that polygraphy results are inadmissable as court evidence?
Pathological liars can pass polygraph tests easy, because they cannot distinguish a lie from the truth, and wholeheartedly belive in their own lies.

Why would you want to beat a lie detector test? Want to hide something you did wrong? Well here's a way...don't do anything wrong!!
Special Forces soldiers are trained to be able to "Lie" the truth and get away with it, just in case we are captured in enemy territories. It is, however, it is an unendruabley long process. A civilian would never be able to accomplish it.
And no its not true that you can tell the truth and the machine to pick it up as false. Its happened, but the probability of it happening to you, is as likely as it is for Lightning strike to strike the same place twice.

yes it is possible for a false positive...just like a drug test, and the chances are probably the same. And depending on the administator tell will be able to tell if u are trying to forge the test by raising your heartrate and moving around. They will tell this to the person who wanted the lie detector test and say, "He tried to cheat." which will not look good on ur end.
The only way I can see to beat it...is to make ur mind believe you were right in the situation u are lying about...

it is possible but NOT AT ALL probable. :D people are trained to beat lie detector tests. it takes a long time, i know someone who had to do it (he was in Speacial Forces or something, i can't remember) so if an enemy captured those people, they could lie and get away with it!

Make the test results "inconclusive". To do this you need to get your heartrate and pulse all over the place, throughout the test not just when you are lying. If you make your body feel like its nervous even when you are telling the truth, the test will come out inconclusive. Drink a lot of caffine

Normally you will pass if you tell the truth,
But it is not fool proof. That is why it is not used in criminal court ( not allowed as evidence since it is not reliable)
For example, in our police department, one officer failed the test because it showed she lied about being in the military.
She was never in, but her father was a carrer military and she lived on bases her entire life.
So she said no, I was never in the military, but the test said it was a lie. so it is not always right.

If the person giving the test is certified (highly) and normally trained by the military school, you have no chance of beating it.
