Or do you believe he actually created light, dark, earth, water, etc. all on his own?

Yes, but the documents were lost (no Hard Disk back then).
So, none of the subcontractors can recall what kind of contracts they signed any more.

If we look at the God of the Bible, then the answer would be He created it all. The God of Scripture is all-powerful, capable of doing all His will dictates. He is also self-sufficient, needing nothing and no one.

Now, HOW did God create it is another question. Did He bring it into existence with a single thought, or did He take his time? Did he create sub-creators who in turn modified some of His creations to create other things? The Bible does not say. Tolken had a theory of sub-creation that I thought was very good and might have a place in the metaphysics of or world, but the answer lies beyond our current ability to determine.

I don't know if I would say subcontractor, but I believe all things (described in Genesis) were created by Michael and Jesus, at the direction of God.

Funny you should mention that but, you bet he had others help him. after all why do it your self if others can do it for you? seriously. Think as God as the Architect, designer, and foreman. Then he has other helpers or angels that actually do the work for him. After all you know he didn't just say "POOF!, there it is!" look at the Grand Canyon, you know he took time to make this earth.
