My daughter who is 2 1/2 and just finished potty training had to go so we just pulled over but by the time she got out she was already going in her pants.

Poor little thing. She did give you warning, so she obviously understands the potty training.
Children dont have the ability to "hold it" the way we do as adults.
Give her praise for letting you know she had to go.
Next time, I suggest putting her in a pull-up if you have a long trip with few chances for potty stops - and take her potty with you as well! Pulling over is fine too - provided it's a safe spot to get out.

Always carry a potty,wipes.and a plastic bag with you whenever you are going in the car. Toddlers cant hang on until you find a rest room.We have often had to pull up on the side of road for a poo stop,and have found carring the potty e.c.t. saves a lot of trauma.

pull over to the side of the road and let her go or carry a potty for that kind of emergencies

don't get mad at her if she is only 2 1/2 they are still learning how to control them selves and a lot of times they don't realized they have to go until they are almost going. next time try getting her to use the bathroom before you leave and if it is going to be a long trip plan on making a lot of stops or have her wear a pull up

Pull over and find a restroom. Maybe take along a plastic potty so you can pull over and let her go, and then you can just empty it on the side of the road.

hey, she is only 2.5. If she was 15 then you might have a gripe, but at 2 and a half, you were too slow to find a spot. Wipe her butt, clean her nose and put clean pants on her and go your happy way.

I would have stopped on the side of the road, opened up the car door to hide her and hoped I had a wipe or some tissue so she could wipe herself.
