...had FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS on him! Apparently he found the x-mas stash his family had and the school has so far recovered $480. It is unknown how much he actually gave away though. YIKES!

Could you imagine? How would you punish your child?

UNBELIEVABLE. I have a 9 yr old and I taught him never to accepts $$ from other kids, unless the parent allows it! It is surprising how many kids hand out $$. Especially on field trips....

If this was my kid, I would be so busy stressing over my lost $$ that the kid would be punished with enough guilt to last a lifetime! And then I would try to have him do some sort of project that teaches him about $$ and its value

A 5th grader is 10 years old and more then capable of understanding the value of money if the parents teach them. I don't know how I would punish my son, but it would be bad. BAD!!! $4000!!! YIKES is RIGHT!!!!

Wow, how old are 5th graders? Around, 8 or 9? Maybe younger? In which case the child should understand he or she did wrong. I don't think i would be able to punish a child for that unless he or she knew what they were doing. I think i would just give him/her no treats or anything for a while. Explain what they did wrong. etc. That would be devastating!

Why are the parents keeping 4 grand laying around the house? Haven't they ever heard of a bank?

Maybe the do business in a lot of cash transactions and sell drugs or something. Why else wouldn't they deposit it?

It's all very odd.
