poetry like music started in song,a sound investment
word investigation. to elevate the common communicate. searching for the finest fit,to tell their own story. slam poetry slams the junk out and enjoys the real deal. to take it beyond
small talk rap, moon&june don`t make it in tune without the for

I love the question!! Excellent question.
Any step taken to promote and nurture Poetry is a positive step.
You are right.. Poetry is virtually extinct in the class setting. Slam Poetry is fast paced and can be an exciting venue for expression of thought. If one looks back to the 'Beat' poets, one could say that they were really the inventors of slam poetry. For instance, Allen Ginsberg, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Gregory Corso, Dianne Di Prima.
Although it was slightly different in presentation than the slam poetry of today, the readings given by these poets in their time were innovative and excitingly new. Forefathers of slam poetry if you will.
I do not participate in slam poetry but have sat in on a few slams. Although it is not my personal genre I am excited to witness once again the emergence of interest in expressive thought.
Young people will express themselves and wether it modernises poetry, supplements it, or reinvents it...if slam poetry promotes the fine art of poetry, stays true to it's origins, remembers the revolutionaries....I support it.

I'm all for it. It has an amateurish feel to it, since the judges are just people from the audience, who may know a lot about poetry or nothing.
If I presented to a hip hop crowd I'd get a much different reaction than I would if presenting to a university crowd. But it's great fun and a wonderful way to connect with other poets. There is a cable TV channel that features poetry slams.

I thoroughly believe you. i think of the clarification why poetry has taken this way of considerable downfall (for my section,of course) is by technique of the fact human beings do no longer incredibly understand why they're even writing a poem, what thoughts they're attempting to place across, how they like the reader to experience, how they themselves experience with reference to the subject count number, and so on. i think of its almost impossible to be waiting to place in writing a poem till you recognize those factors. i discover that a brilliant sort of people who write 'poetry' do it greater as a manner, no longer something they actually problem to analyze approximately or take heavily.

I think it's an exhilerating way for people to come together and share their creativity and personal experiences. I think it gives the participants a voice that might not be heard elsewhere, and audiences have an opportunity to learn in a unique way. Everyone has something different to bring to the table!

I liked it better the first time when it was called "Howl". Everything else in this genre of poetry is mere poor imitation.

All art is worthless, poetry more so. Poetry leads to rap, and that isn't a good thing.
