I don't drink, and i prefer places I can actually hear the person I want to talk to and also not need to shout at them. If you like going to the pub then choose a quiet one. I think working in a social place like coffee shop where people hang out would be good. Internet dating would be the best option, you can pick and choose those you have in common with.

Believe it or not, but I've been told that women are everywhere! Now personally I'd avoid them, as they are nothing but trouble, but what the hell, throw caution to the wind and get hooked up with a life sucking leech if that's what you want.
My suggestion would be the gym, we also have a computer system where it records the execise you do, but you can also leave each other messages, so you just have to walk past a nice girl while she's loggin in or out, spot her name and leave her a Terry Thomas "Oh hello!"

The gym or fitness center; join a running group or just workout, theatre events: plays, concerts, choirs; hang out at Starbucks or Blenz or whatever is the hot coffee shop near you; strike up a conversation in the checkout line at the supermarket -- you can tell by her groceries if she's buying for a family or not; volunteer for something -- that's a really great way to meet people.
