Have to go for a check-up, but I'm not sure what's the usual fee... Asked one and was told $100 (CA). Ouch for my budget !

That is approximately the same charge anywhere -- you can call around (and check places like Wal-Marts or Targets or some other mega-stores that have Optometry Clinics in them) but the charge will be approximately $100 for them too.

about the same price at sears. that's were i went and for a pair of glasses.check the sunday newspaper they have all kinds of coupons in them for eye exam or 50% off of glasses. good luck!
