That is an impressively long time to have something still in the freezer. It all depends on how much air is in the packaging of the bird. You will most likely have some amount of freezer burn(dehydration) for that length of time. The more air in the package the more the freezer burn will have affected the turkey. It is not dangerous to eat something with freezer burn, but it is very tough and usually devoid of flavor. If you see evidence of freezer burn, I would not use it for serving a main meal myself, but you might still be able to get some use from it. thaw it out and inspect the flesh of the bird. Cut away any areas that are tough and discolored, then render it down in a large stock pot and you will have some decent turkey stock for flavoring and cooking other meals, some of the meat will also be usable in soups or casseroles or you could grind up the usable portions of raw turkey to burger and cook it up without seasoning for your pets if you have some. If the bird has severe freezer burn don't mess with any of it and just toss it in the garbage.

Yes, it will be safe to eat, but maybe not so tasty. I copied the below info from the site listed.

Frozen turkeys will keep indefinitely in the freezer. Quality is another matter, however, and is said to decline after about a year.

We would not cook them with the intention of impressing our future in-laws at a holiday banquet. We'd thaw them, see if they looked satisfactory in their raw state, then cook them and, again, pending a satisfactory taste test, make buckets of soup, casseroles, and all sorts of other dishes that could then get lost in the freezer.

Good Luck with your old turkey.

It won't taste good. Meat that is frozen gets nasty after a few months. The max time is around the 6 month max if it has been frozen. Also, you don't want to eat it anyway because it will have freezer burn, and just be gross. Splurge and buy a new one!!

this is risk-free. We flow very practically each year for some weeks. no remember the place you flow on trip or stay there is an danger of a few stupid man or woman/team doing some thing. yet once you reside like that then you definately ought to easily stay in a bomb look after and get in touch with it an afternoon. Turkey is high quality ... you will like it.

A few years back??? How does it look, does it look freezer burnt, and check the smell after you thaw it out - have an extra idea on hand just in case.

It should be safe to eat, it just won't be very good. We're talking major freezer burn.
I've had freezer-burned stuff before. Yuck!
You'd be way better off to just buy a new one.

Not if it's been in the freezer more than 6 months.
Buy a new one it wouldn't be tasty anyway.
