but I can never get him alone to tell him how I feel or to ask him out. What can I do? I like him so much!

Catch him off guard. Like standing in line or watching a movie. Scoot in a little closer...but not too close...and ask him what he's doing that weekend. tell him what you're doing and maybe say "yeah, i'd like for someone to come with me but idk who. would you like to join me?" or ask him to meet you after class and tell him how cool of a guy you think he is and tell him you'sd like to go out with him sometime.

Tell him youneed to talk to him in private. then tell him how you feel. if he doesn't feel the same way don't be crushed.
