Does everybody have the ability to sing? Can it be taught?

Everyone has the ability but not everyone should. There are those who cannot carry a tune no matter what. And there are people who are tone deaf. I do not think everyone can be taught to sing well enough that others would like to listen.

Not everyone has the ability to sing, but one can be taught or rather, one can be trained to sing at least from a very early age.

Everyone could technically sing. But talent is something that can't be taught. You either have the ability to be good or you don't just like sports. I could practice as hard as I want I still won't be a good basketball player.

Voice lessons are there to teach you techniques to help make it better to a certain degree. If you don't have the talent you just don't have the talent plain and simple.

Everyone has the ability. But in order to be good at it... they have to find the "connection" between their ears and what comes out of their mouths. That is the main part (carrying a tune!) It can be taught(though sometimes with MUCH difficulty but it CAN be done.).

The other parts are breath control, pronunciation ect which are taught to singers all the time!

Everyone can sing but not everyone can sing well. No amount of vocal training is going to transform a person without some degree of natural ability into a good singer.

Everybody can sing but not everybody can carry a tune in a bucket. Singing is a talent that people are born with. You can only polish what you already have to sound good.

Yes everybody has the ability to sing, and yes it can be taught, however not all have the talent and not all can learn to do it well.

I think deaf people would have a real problem singing. Although everyone has a larynx, there are very subtle differences in the way each person's larynx is constructed, which results in very real differences in things like pitch, volume, modulation, tone and so forth. Although almost anyone's singing can be improved with training, there is such a thing as being gifted.
