You discover truth by using your senses. You find patterns in how things work around you. Then you can form theories about that evidence and test it to verify that it is really the truth. However, you have to be careful of your own biases, so you should have others outside your group try to find holes in what you believe to be truth.
This method might never get to the truth, because you can't observe all of the universe at once. However, you'll approach closer and closer to the truth.
Be careful of pitfalls, though. One of the major pitfalls is not being able to admit when you don't know something. Many people, at this point, will even make up answers to have one. If you use books to find truths that others claim they've found, be sure to use books by others also, especially those that are opposed to the idea. Get as many different sources as possible, and don't rely on second-hand info. Try to find people who actually did the tests and made the observations.
BTW, this is how science works.

Study the Bible, "Thy word is truth". Ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, " And the Spirit of truth, will lead you into all truth" Compare texts with texts, line upon line, here a little, there a little, precept upon precept. Discover what the whole Bible has to say about any given topic and find the unity and harmony in this priceless book called the Word of God.

You are asking a lot of questions today!
I have given you the truth many times today. The truth is in Jesus Christ- the word of God, the Holy Bible holds the truth. The gospel of Christ is the truth. Do you know what He did for you? I think you do....Do you believe it?
Jesus says: "I am the only way, truth and life, no one comes to the Father but through Me" John 14:6

Keep asking questions until it resonates as being truthful. For instance you feel your man is cheating on you. So you ask him where he has been blah, blah, blah. A week later ask him the same question and if he gives you the exact same answer from last week he was telling the truth.

The truth to WHAT, sweetheart? Life? God? Whatever it is you are seeking, keep looking for it and it will allow itself to be found. That sounds simplistic, but that in itself is a truth!

be sincere in asking for it, do your homework and try reading the holy books. Even search for the most far from you like Budda teachings or the holy Quran, and may god lead you to the truth if you deserve it.

A wise person once told me this.
Keep the company of those who seek the truth and run away from those who have found it.
