Place in a preheated 325°F oven.

Unstuffed:3 to 3-1/2
Stuffed 3-3/4 to 4-1/2

If unstuffed, the turkey is done when the meat thermometer reaches the following temperature:

180°F deep in the thigh; also, juices should be clear, not reddish pink when thigh muscle is pierced deeply.

If the turkey is stuffed, move the thermometer to the center of stuffing to read temperature. If both the thigh and the stuffing have reached temperatures listed below then the turkey is done.

180°F deep in the thigh; also, juices should be clear, not reddish pink when thigh muscle is pierced deeply.
165°F in the center of the stuffing.

Before removing stuffing and carving, let turkey stand 15 minutes to allow juices to set.

I have been cooking Thanksgiving dinner for 25 years now and here is the best, surefire way to cook a turkey any size. First thaw it out, take the innards out and put them in a med saucepan with some sage, salt, pepper and butter, bring to a boil. Wash your turkey inside and out, make sure all the liquid drains out of his insides. When the innards have come to a boil throw the neck away, chop the gizzard, heart and liver into small pieces, add this to your bread crumbs and pour the water you just boiled the stuff in onto the bread crumbs. Stuff your turkey, rub the outside of your bird with real butter (not margarine) salt and pepper, put him in one of those cooking bags (made by the same people that make Reynolds Wrap) put him in a large enough pan that he doesn't fall over the sides. Put him in the oven at 225 degrees about 12-14 hours before you are going to have dinner. I usually do this around 1 - 2 am the night before. The next morning your house will smell great, then you have the morning and part of the early afternoon to get everything else ready. Then about 2 hours before you eat, turn the heat up to about 300 cut the bag open and start basting the bird about every 10 minutes. It will get golden brown and be perfect.

325 degrees, and 15 minutes per pound
So your 16 pound turky should cook for 240 minutes
You should put a tin foil tent over it to stop the browning until there is only about 25 minutes left, then remove the tin foil to let it brown

325ºF. Good luck! (Make sure the internal temp of the turkey is 180ºF - that's when you know it's cooked thoroughly.)
