No, no, no!! Allspice is only called that because it has a very complex flavor. But it is VERY savory. Cloves would work and give it a more "Southern" flavor, but not allspice.

you can substitute ginger for : allspice; cinnamon; mace; or nutmeg

I think it would be alright. I tend to substitute allspice for alot of things. Its a great cumin substitute!

Well, you *can*, but I don't know if you *should*. It will taste very different. Be warned that allspice is generally used on meats, not sweets or baked goods. If you do, don't use a lot.

NO YOU CAN USE CINNAMON OR NUTMEG, ALL SPICE IS USED IN MEATS SOUPS IT HAS A VERY BOLD TASTE.
IN THE SPICE ISLE YOU CAN GET PUMPKIN PIE SPICE. IT IS A MIXTURE OF CINNAMON,NUTMEG,GINGER AND CLOVES .THIS IS WHAT I USE
