I hear this all the time: Abortion is wrong except in the case of 1)rape, 2) incest or 3) if the mother's life is in danger.
Why does that matter? If life is sacred and is a gift from God, why is it okay to kill the baby if he is a result of rape or incest? What did the baby have to do with it? Why punish him? Why is his life no longer sacred?
As for the health of the mother, again, why is the baby's life no longer sacred at that point? Aren't they both sacred? Shouldn't the doctor try to save whoever has the best chance for survival. Granted, that is probably the mother, but still why make a judgement on the issue before the facts are known. Wouldn't most mothers willingly give their life to spare their children? Or are fetuses not considered worthy of that yet?

I am a pro lifer - without compromise.
And Atheist, thanks for demonstrating your own level of cognitive ability. That was some outstanding logic you used to support your view.

THANK YOU, Andy. I am always dismayed by the lack of logic and the inconsistency displayed by so-called "pro-lifers" who justify abortion in some cases. Either abortion is murder, or it is not. If it is murder, it cannot be justified. Perhaps inconsistent pro-lifers are too worried about what other people think of them and don't want to be perceived as too "radical," or perhaps their desire to show compassion to the mother causes them to forget that the child is equally deserving of compassion.

NO abortion is acceptable in my book. I was told I wouldn't live through having my son. But I told the doctor I will die before I kill an innocent baby. I am still alive today!!! Rape, etc is no reason as there are people that can't have children that would love a newborn baby. But I don't care what the situation would be in my situation as it is not the babies fault no matter what!!!!

As a pro-lifer, I can say for myself that I would preffer abortion never be performed. I cant say that rape, incest, or mothers health make it "acceptable" but more understandable than as a form of birth controll. It's still sad even under those conditions, but more understandable. We would all definitely praise the mother of a child who still refused abortion even under those circumstances.

To answer your main question directly: The reason abortion is acceptable to pro-lifers is that the name "Pro life" was chosen for political reasons. Pro anything sounds better that anti. Pro life reads better that Anti-choice, what most of these people really are. They don't want to slam the door on abortion, they just want to be the judge of when abortion is appropriate. People of this kind make the assumption that human nature is selfish and irresponsible. Truth is that most people who believe this are those who need the most careful watching. It has been said the we hate most vehemently that which we hate in ourselves.
My opinion is that there are decisions in life for other people to butt into; abortion is one of them. The decision to abort belongs to the woman, her doctor and possibly here spouse.

Ooh look! An extremist who got hisself some schoolin'! Which he now tries to use to shame us heathens.
Nice try. No banana. Oh, excuse me, I meant to say "no atheist's nightmare."
On the other hand I guess you could look at it this way. If a christian prolifer gets preggers, and is willing to go down with the ship.....

You assume incorrectly. It isn't that prolifers think the life is not sacred. It is that one evil superceeds the other.
