It means that a MAN made book is trying to get woman to shut up and obey MEN.

Shocking, isn't it?

Ultimately He is the one responsible for all decision made for the family. So if he has to answer for it then should he have the ultimate say in it. I am not suggesting that this gives men license to abuse their wives or not consider them. In the verses previous the Bible talks about husbands loving their wives as Christ loved the church. So really the have a tougher job and who doesn't want to submit to someone who your best and greatest interests in mind.

One of the things that I look for in a Christian woman is a man I can submit to.

It means that the men who wrote this book believed that to be a woman's role. The woman was unclean and the source of all evil brought upon mankind. Being the consensus of the time, the bible means just what it says in regards to a woman's role and status in society. Whether or not that has anything to do with an all-knowing, all-loving god is another question all together.

When applied to modern times, it's enough to make your stomach turn. Impractical, archaic and disrespectful to say the least. Isn't marriage to be a partnership and not a heirarchy?

To obey them- I know many women do not like that word. But it is true- HOWEVER Husbands are suppose to love and respect their wives as well. They are to be the Spiritual leaders in the home. And wives are subject to them. That means- when the Husband makes a decesion the wife needs to accept that without arguing. ( being contentious)- that is one example. I know I have a lot of faults in that area! But I continue to pray for God to change me in that....I think we as Christian women want to be the Proverbs 31 woman. We strive for that!

And when a wife is being submissive to her husband, she is obeying God too.

It means to acknowledge your husband as head of the house and to honor him for being your covering. Just as Christ is the covering for the Church (His bride) so your husband is your covering. Realize that man was created first and Adam's sin was in following Eve, so because of this women are to be submissive to their husbands.

We are to give them the spiritual leadership of the household, and defer to them when making important family decisions, unless they want to break God's law.

It means to let your husband lead as head of the house.

It means to respect your husband in private and in public.

It means to pray for your husband and listen to his counsel even when you feel you are right. See Ephesians 5.

Just what it says. You are to allow yourselves to be dominated by whatever they want, with no thought to yourself or your needs.

But doesn;t a marriage work better with shared responsibilities and as a partnership?
