It could mean two things:
1) He just needs help. He's having a lot of trouble with his girl, and he thinks he can come to you for help.
2) The more-likely-then-not answer is that he likes you! Guys strategize by bringing attention to thier gfs. They feel that if you like them back, you will say something about thier gf; they usually wait for a negative responce to thier girls.
The real thing you should be asking yourself is: Do you like him. I find that most girls who ask this (believe me, I've heard it a LOT) have feelings (at least a small crush) for whomever they may be talking about.

This is a good thing. It means that he highly adores, admires, respects, and let us not forget that he loves his girlfriend. He is proud of the person he's got and he knows the person he has is a keeper. Take it as a compliment if he is yours.

He might be using you as a sounding board. To see your take on whatever situation they are in. If he talks about her incessantly then maybe he's trying to tell you something.

It means he need someone to vent to.. What exactly is he talking about? If he speaks kindly of her, then he is looking for a buddy. If he trashes her then, he may be hinting you.

If you two have been friends for quite some time, he probably just wants your opinion on their relationship. He wants to know what you think.

That he's stuck on her, and he's probably always comparing you to her in his head!! Be careful, if she ever wants him back, you might as well just give up, he'll go running right back into her arms!!
