I live in Mi.
I am not female but over the last 20 yearsI have worked with over 25 femal electricians. Most did a decent job about the same % as the men I worked with. Some were not cut out for construction work.
My boss is a Female electrician and one of the best as an electrician a boss and a person.

If you try this expect to work hard and expect to be given all the dirty jobs. It doesn't matter man or woman a beginner is a beginner.
I would tell you to dress conservatively I know it may not be fair but it is what my boss told her own daughter when she started working in construction.

If you have any questions you can email me

Yes athere are a few female electricians in most big origanizations.
YOUr best money would be in large plants in their electrical department. you could make 20 an hour here in Georgia at our plant. ot varies form 12 to 40 according to location.
It's usually hard work and small pay.
There getitng to be more fem,ale electrical contractors which is good.
We have several female contractors or husband wife teams around here wiring houses mainly and beleive me they are hard to compete with.
BUt if you really want to go into the field get an education. A female with a degree and experioence can ultimately find a position in management of maintainence department. That's where the money is.
What with the traveling and crap you take form other workers you as a female ned education to distasnce yourself form the rough necks and make decent money. It's not right but it's fact.
Even if you start onjob training get the education . YOU have the advantae with an education.

There are female electricians. You will not work alone most of the time for safety reasons. You might have difficulty finding many women in the field. You will have better luck once you join a union or a society or guild. In most cases you can join a society without participating in the field. The IEEE allows anyone to join if you pay the membership fee and are not annoying the members who do participate. You can then get a feel for things before jumping in.

Yes , there are lots. Most electricians on large jobs aren't left alone either as it's quicker having a mate to help pull cables and wield the defibrilator (bad joke). Seriously though, if you want a job where you have plenty of other girls about for a good chat while you're wiring up stuff - this probably isn't it.
