calling her means more and shows more of an effort than texting... call her up and ask her if she'd like to get out of the house for the night, maybe catch a movie, go ice skating, have dinner, go shoppin etc.etc.... offer to hang with her.. thats more of a smile getter than a silly little text that doesn't mean anything!

You know, I think what you are considering doing is a great thing. A few years ago my favourite cousin had her husband dump her for a younger woman. I wanted to call her up, & tell her what a fabulous woman she was, & that any man in his right mind would give anything to be with her. I baulked because I wasn't sure she would appreciate or value what I had to say. I always thought of her as a very independant & strong woman, & I wondered if she actually needed or would even appreciate me stroking her ego. One thing that I overlooked at the time was that her father had passed away several years ago, & I was one of the few male figures left in her life.
I saw her several weeks later, & saw that she was really affected by the breakup. I wished that I had stepped up to the bar a lot sooner, & I regret having not done that to this day.
Tell your friend what a fine lass she is, & that guys will be scrambling to get to her as soon as the word gets out that she's available.
You're a good friend for her to have.

Just send a nice simple note that you are there for her if she should need a friend to talk to or just vent to. If you could say it in person or by phone that would be better. It's sweet. She may take you up on the offer.

You text her to say you want to meet her, then give her a hug and let her pour her heart out for awhile.... i'm sorry but in my opinion you can't comfort someone in a text message.

Just be sweet. Say something like hey, how you feelin? and just let her know you care and she has your shoulder to cry on if she needs to.
