If I knew what I know now, and I was an indiginous person, I would establish a system of culture in as large an area as I could, teach English to my fellow inhabitants, change our clothing style, grow large amounts of crops in tilled fields and upgrade our technology so that when the Europeans came, they would see as an established, legitimate European-style culture, acknowledge our sovereignity, and treat us as equals instead of as savages. That way, my people would retain ownership of the land and the Europeans would have to establish treaties with us instead of rationalizing killing us at will.

Believe it or not, I'm a pacifist but in this case, knowing the history, I think this would be the only logical choice. We know the alternative. We know what happened. We also know that our aboriginal peoples are just starting to find their roots again let alone repopulate. So many were killed. It very nearly brought them to extinction.

Those would be illegal aliens. Arrest the whole lot. The next thing you know, since they don't know crapola about farming here, you'll have to be feeding them, they won't want to learn your language or culture, they'll bring disease ... oh God .. maybe we ought to build a fence!

Not really much you could do. They had weapons. I'd probably give them the local skank as a peace offering and hope they caught something.
