where i work we use a clocking in machine where you have to place your hand on a small slab which identifies you,up to 80 people use this,this machine does not get cleaned at any time,god only knows what germs some of these people carry.In the last month 3 people have been poorly with stomach infections,blood in urine,etc etc.Could this be contagious.

All types of bacteria can be found on any multiple user device(time clock,doorknobs,keyboards). Wash your hands often or use alcohol based hand sanitizer when you can't . Use disinfecting wipes (Clorox,Lysol) on other surfaces.

The clock is almost certainly NOT the cause of the illnesses. 3 people ill in a month isnt exactly epidemic proportions. If you are worried...go to the washroom and wash your hands after clocking in..;
