George Harrison was a member of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness and reflected the Vedic philosophy in much of his music, he used his talent and fame to promote God consciousness, so it is not surprising at all that someone would take inspiration from such a person.
If you study the depth of realisation that George sought and achieved, it will become clear that being a Beatle was insignificant in comparescent to the person and the message that is conveyed through the legacy of his music.
George Harrison is one of my God brothers and the service that he performed for our Spiritual master, HDG A C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, whilst turning his back on the fame and fortune of Beatledom, is not only testimony to his sincerity and purity, but also his validity as a self realised soul who can provide the knowledge to transcend the cycle of the repetition of birth and death.

How do you turn to George Harrison? Does he listen to his music? Pray to him?
George did value peace, and you cannot mock your boyfriend for doing the same, but I'd need more info to decide if you're going out with a fruitcake or not..

Yes i can understand that. I knew George & he was a very gentle, peaceful, caring, loving man who want out of his way to help the starving people of Bangladesh when they needed the voice of a well known personality to let the world know of their plight.
Just listen to the words of the great mans songs for peace & solace.
I was in liverpool the day George died......... Man what a day!! there were no dry eyes anywhere.
I did a couple of numbers that day on the stage @ The Cavern Club in Mathew Street as a tribute to him, because of the influence the he, John, Paul & Ringo had had on the entire world

Harrison's last statement to the world was:
"'Everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot wait; love one another."
I don't think your boyfriend is looking to him as a God or prophet, I think he's just taking some well needed advice.
NOTE: Nowhere in that statement does George discuss religions that are right or wrong. If only we wern't so literal all the time.

George Harrison was a great great person who loved his God but also didn't demean or condemn others who didn't believe as he did.

george harrison had a lot to say for such a quiet man...he understood more about God than a lot of ordained ministers, and lived his life in such a way as to be in peace with his fellow man...and for those of you who just dismiss him as 'one of those buddhists', let me recommend a song of his called 'life itself'...it is one of the best songs of heartfelt praise ever written...

Absolutely. George Harrison was a Buddhist and all of his music was about peace and love.

I have found comfort in the song, "while my guitar gently weeps" when my life was full of sadness - somtimes things that make you feel sad while you already feel sad are a good thing - they can help to heal you and make you feel like you are not alone
