For some one to , like being depressed? is it normal , good , healthy?
I'm a teenager . I've been depressed for a while. On and off and now It seems. as if I like it..

I'm not asking for 'pity' , I'm just curious.

No need to post an answer that has nothing to do with the question. Or post a rude comment.

For 2 points.

I've tried counseling and taking anti depressants but to me it gets old , I dislike taking pills. And It takes weeks for the pills to actually kick in , and you have to take them for months. I guess its depression , Previously, months ago I use to be angry and such. Now I'm just very lazy and sensitive?

No, it's not normal to "like" being depressed. You should seek help. Maybe talk to a parent (if you're close) or a good friend. Change the things in your life that are bothering you. (Easier said then done, I know) But it's worth a shot. Do you want to be this way for the rest of your life? I hope not. Seek help! : )

I think it is possible but not necessarily normal, good or healthy.

Before I started taking the anti-depressants I found the depression gave me "excuses" I guess. I had an excuse to sleep all day, to be moody, to not get done the things I needed to do. That's not a normal, good or healthy way of life.

Also, before I realized it was depression I had I didn't really know any different and it was a normal way of feeling for me so I became accustomed to it. Guess I was forced to "like" it but now that I know different I don't like it at all and wish never to go back.

What is it about the depression that you like? Whatever it is it can't be better than feeling happy and good about yourself all the time, not just "on and off."

Edited to add: No one can help you if you don't want to help yourself. I don't like taking pills either but I'm up to 11 pills a day for the kidney disease and depression I have and I'm 25 years old.

Yes the pills could take some time to kick in but it's that or stay the way you are and by the sounds of things you're making excuses to do just that.

If you like being lazy and sensitive than there's nothing any one can do but the depression could escalate and get worse. Better to stop it now before you reach your breaking point but that's just my opinion.

You know I would say it is common but not normal....
You should try and turn to someone for help..maybe at school or your folks...the family doctor. Your age group has a tendency to think that someone is crazy because they have to take medicine in order to feel normal....I do not believe that to be true. Often times...our brains do not make enough or sometimes too much of certain necessary chemicals...these chemicals control whether we feel happy, content and even sad, the medicine prescribed for depression is supposed to balance out the chemicals in our brain so that we can feel normal and content. You should look into it with your folks and the family doctor. I hope that you find your way.
Some people seem to "enjoy" sad feelings or other types of feeling because of chemical imbalances in the brain...it's not that you "enjoy" it so to speak...it probably that your brain is addicted to the chemicals that are being produced...
Counseling should help you with that...
Good luck...reach out to somebody you can count on!!

Its actually quite normal in teenagers, im 16, been depressed as well, i can say this: find something in your life to hold on to, find something fun, someone to stay for, and it helps, nobody likes depression, but sometimes it feels as if its comforting....its not, like i said before find something to do thats fun and kep doing it, depression comes and goes, just as friends and family, but there are wasy to get out of it:)
