Buy a small cheap digital camera if you think you'll want a camera in the future.
But its not worth buying one just to sell some items once on e-bay if you never use it again - it'll eat up your profit!
Do you know anyone who can lend you one?
Otherwise you can get a cheap web cam for a fiver.
And you can scan small items. Cover them with a white cloth or a shoebox and leave the lid up.

A good photo will help you get the Best price for your item.
If you sell small items (Badges, Jewelry, Postcards etc) you will need a camera which is capable of focusing very closely (Known as macro).

It depends how serious you are about eBay, It's not worth spending £50 on a camera if you only plan to sell a couple of items, however if you expect to sell on eBay regularly then a good quality compact point and shoot digital camera would be a good investment.

You don't need a top of the range camera, a second hand 3MP model would do the job.

SCANNER: If you are selling small items you can place them on your scanner and scan them. It does work, I used to do it.

Good luck.

scanning in photo's are an option but suspicious people ( Like me!) will be put off by the possible lack of quality. If you are going to sell a few things then give it a try.
Otherwise I would invest in a low cost digital camera, the picture quality will be better, and should help you sell.

You might be able to use an inexpensive webcam. You can capture an image and turn it into a still.

I would shoot for an inexpensive digital camera anyway. You can get a decent used one for under a $100. For eBay images, you don't need a very large megapixel photo.

The single use would work but a lot of effort and you can get a digital that would do the trick for about £30-£40 so if your selling more then I'd invest!

Single-use would be cheaper in the short run, but it's a lot easier to have a digital camera. If you're planning on selling a lot on eBay, it's worth the investment.

Why not go on to ebay and buy either a web cam or a digital camera. The most basic one will serve your needs. You can try http://www.dpreview.com/ to get an idea of what is what.
An image of a mere 50kb is sufficient for ebay.

And purely for pictures that are going to be used on the 'net, the number of "megapixels" on a digital camera shouldn't be too high - I usually switch mine down to 2Mp for my eBay items. The problem is that you might just find yourself using it for "real" photography!
