You could actually not be consuming enough calories...this can slow down your metabolism. Usually, someone your age needs a minimum of 1600 calories just to keep your basic body function (breathing, digesting, thinking) working. If you're depriving yourself of too many calories, your body wants to hold to whatever it can, making weight loss very difficult. I would talk to a registered dietitian (go to www.eatright.org to find one), and if possible, ask to test your resting metaboic rate through indirect calorimetry. This will give tell you how many calories you need just at rest.

If you are honestly not eating over 1200 calories a day, and are getting some excercise and still putting on weight, you need to talk to your doctor. You may have a metabolic disorder.
Before that, I'd look at what you're eating. Are you counting all your drink calories in your total calorie intake? (a can of pepsi alone is like 300 calories) If you're eating out, try healthier options, but remember that sometimes what you think should be healthier isn't. For instance a salad with tons of dressing and fried meat on it isn't healthy even though it's a salad. You might also be misguessing what a portion is (it's a lot smaller than most people think!), and grossly underestimating your calorie intake.
If you've looked at all these things, and your calorie intake truly is this low and you're gaining weight, you need to talk to your doctor.

I would like to say that I have had the same problem, but there is nothing you can do other than changing your eating habits and lifestyle.Even if you are taking in 1200 calories if they are caslories from fatty foods, you will gain weight. You have to eat 1200 calories of healthy food.If you insist on eating out try going to places that will not tempt you with fatty sugary foods. Also be more active. If you are against exercise, just make yourself more active.Walk to your fast food resteraunt, take slower routes when walking to a friends, get up to change the T.V channels,if you catch yourself being completely still, move it will help increase your metabolism.Tap your foot while sitting, or your fingers, just keep moving one way or another, how many hyper people gain alot of weight!

do you eat right? do you exercise? do you hydrate properly?
have you talked to a doctor? are you medications?
does it run in your family?
have you followed these programs here: www.mypryamid.gov
if you do most of these things... you need to consult with a doctor to see if there's not something else that you are having a problem with that is causing you to produce fats from calories and if your metabolism is having trouble.
or if it's glands... or a disease...
larger people already have high metabolisms... it's not that. unless you are having a medical condition for where you need to talk to a professional.
simple diet adjustments or reactions because you have an allergic reaction to some foods.. can make a huge difference also.
again seek a professional and if they are caring you may have to do a diary of what you eat during the day.
it is calorie intake but also the foods involved.

What type of foods are you eating? Do you excersise? Are you on the Birth Control pill (some gain weight on that). Do you eat 5 or 6 small meals a day? These are some of the questions that you need to ask yourself. Also how tall are you and what do you weigh, cause lately a lot of young ladies are asking questions about weight when in reality they have nothing to worry about.

There are many possible reasons. My suggestions;
a) consult a nurtionist
b) consult a doctor - it could be a medical condition
c) consult a therapist
d) find an exercise that you like to do, like a martial art or spinning
e) Write down everything you eat all day in a journal. Consult the journal and dont cheat, it will help you see what or how you are getting there.
Good luck.

diet does not have that much to do with weight actually. Your problem is that your not exercising...food is good...you need food...stop blaming food and blame the fact that your very lazy.
if people would exercise more they would not have to worry so darn much about food...Are you really serious about doing this? We are talking about hard work. Putting down your little debbies, getting off your butt and not only going on a diet but EXERCISING!!! Even if you lose the weight it will come right back if you do not have the desire and motivation to not only look cute but to be healthy. it is going to take alot of inner strength I can assure you of that.
1.) eat 4-5 small meals a day
2.) drink lots of water
3.)exercise every day
4.) do not eat 4-6 hours before you sleep.

Are you really that fat, or do you just think your fat? What is your height and current weight? If you really are gaining so much weight and only eating 1,200 calories a day, then you need to see a doctor, as they may be a problem with your thyroid that needs treatment. HTH : )

nothing challenging and difficult was ever accomplished without a short-term and long-term goal in writing where it can be seen daily. everyone can say just do this or that, but until it is put in writing so you can hold yourself to the dream and desire typically nothing will be accompished. short-term might be to lose 2 lbs a week and long term 100 lbs in a year. this is a healthy and obtainable goal that won't cause you to lose heart by setting unreasonable goals. if you can do this drug free then it's all the better. i'm sure you'll get plenty of suggestions about what to do with diet and exercise.

Hi,
I've tried all different diets, and the weight loss is only temporary. I finally tried diet pills on the market are made from Hoodia. I saw this stuff on ABC News. It's all natural and safe, and it works! My wife took it for a month and dropped 20 pounds. I took it for a month and lost about 13 (but I didn't exercise).
I bought the natural hoodia from this website: http://www.alllsite.info/free-diet-pills.php . I checked the web site address so I can post it here and I saw they're running a promotion now to get a free 2 week sample for only $4.97! I'm going to order this supply for my wife and give it to her for Christmas =)
